Their Sacrifice.  Our Gain.

The bagpipes played as the crowd waved flags and streamers along a human corridor of cheering family and friends at Albuquerque Airport.  Making their way down this corridor were some of America’s greatest heroes — Vietnam Vets who laid it all on the line for all of us to be free.  They were returning from a visit to the monuments in DC  for Memorial day.

Each Vet was cheered and celebrated as they walked gingerly and wheel chaired down this mass of humanity that cheered with gusto.  There were tears and hugs, high fives and fist pumps.  The energy and emotion in the air was palpable.

We rarely celebrate these heroes. Their sacrifices allow us to enjoy the joys of freedom today — clearly our gain. Hats off to these quiet heroes to whom we owe a debt of gratitude.
