Things right now are uncertain and scary. Uncertainty breeds anxiety. We’re all worried now—about health, about money, about businesses, family and friends. People look at hoarding and see the “worst” of humanity.
But people are remarkably resilient. Markets are robust. We aren’t fragile. People, economies, can endure much more than they think they can. They get knocked down but always manage to come roaring back with an incredible vengeance.
I’m excited to already see the marks of creativity and innovation—the creation of ventilator parts by 3D printers, people sharing their knowledge on taking classes online, producers offering their products and services to individuals at zero price or reduced. Times like this, if you choose to look, show that people can be very good. When given the chance, many people choose to help their fellow human beings. At the end of the day, this connectedness, this continued desire and ability to transact with one another, provides such a wonderful respite from all the seeming chaos.
