This Labor of Love

I read Seth Godin’s blog post with interest, about — what else — those of us who write daily blogs. This has clearly been a labor of love. I agree with him, that those of us who write consistently tend to do so more for ourselves than for others.

On more than one occasion I have wondered about the value of my musings over the past five and a half years. I have my ardent readers and countless students who allow me that pride of place on their shoulders, so I can impact what’s between their ears.

As an educator, my mission is to get people to think. If they can occasionally gather a glimpse of wisdom from my writings — mission accomplished.

I recently told a friend that writing had made me a more thoughtful and reflective person. It seems that I am writing in my head, all day long.

I hope my readers find some value, some joy and some moments that resonate. This has been a life changing experience for me, and I hope to continue to evolve as a person and as a writer. I hope you are along for the ride.
