Rohan buried a time capsule behind the house about 5 years ago. An eclectic collection of personal artifacts such as old photographs, a memento from a young friend who died from cancer, and personal paintings that were intimately linked to his childhood.
With my luck, the site is now covered with a paver pad and a generator. I have promised him that we will dig through the layers to find him his special memories.
That’s the beauty of childhood and sheer innocence. We bury things in the ground, and in our psyche, so we can revisit them at a later date. Somehow, they allow us to grow, and find solace in the years that define our very being.
Can’t wait to uncover the treasure when he is ready to pull the plug, and uncover the memories.
