I detest being involved in business decisions that impact other people’s lives. I take people’s livelihoods very seriously. Business is not a game; neither is a person’s life.
Unfortunately, it comes with the territory. At the end of the day, my primary loyalty lies to those who give us reason to exist as an organization. And to those who count on me to provide leadership.
Difficult messages must be delivered in person, eyeball to eyeball, with sincerity, and a touch of compassion and empathy. At the end of the day, I have to stop the bleeding. The personal wounds may take longer to heal. Who said business was easy?
