Trust is Human

I highly recommend that you watch Simon Sinek’s Ted Talk, “First Why, Then Trust“. One more home run from a brilliant thought leader who’s insights are inspirational and sheer genius.

Now why can’t I think like that?

The premise is simple: we build trust through enhanced human contact. A touch, a handshake, a visual connection. Technology is a detriment to building trust, and probably creates greater deviance. Technology is also a major roadblock to all of us forming a common belief system.  Unfortunately, losing sight of a common goal is a by-product of corporate growth, and that’s when trust erodes. Bad things happen when we focus on an “I” culture, as opposed to a “We” culture.

FaceTime is no substitute for a cold brew between friends. Flowers are a poor substitute for the human touch, and one more thing — don’t confuse competence with trust. Watch the video and ask your self the million dollar question – what can you do to enhance trust in your little World?
