I have never understood how people can be violent against the people they love. Whether it is their significant other, their child, or their pet. Hitting a lady is the ultimate act of cowardice. While Ray Rice is the current poster child for domestic violence, the deeper social problem is blatantly rooted across cultures and socio-economic hierarchies. Somehow we forget about the victim and the trauma that gets engrained in their psyche.
Children learn by observing their elders. I don’t ever recall my Dad ever raising his voice, leave alone his hand, with his family. We owe it to our children to lead by example, by never lifting a finger to hurt others, and by ensuring that the next generation is more empathetic and less violent than ours.
Why would a man ever raise his hand on the handful of people who give meaning to his life? That is the million dollar question.
