“We have a 99 percent satisfaction rating.” Is that good?
Well, if you are a retail store, it could be exceptional. If you are a hospital, it could mean that you are giving one new born baby a month, to the wrong family. Not so good.
We don’t live in an absolute world. We are better than, or worse than someone else. The key is to find the right benchmark for performance, or to define excellence.
My favorite quote on relativity was from the brilliant Albert Einstein, ” When you touch a hot stove, every second feels like an hour. When you are with a beautiful woman, every hour feels like a second. That’s relativity”.
