Weary Travelers

I sit patiently at the gate waiting to board my late evening flight out of O’Hare, Chicago. All around me, I see tired eyes and tired bodies. Men and women, young and old, scrolling through screens on smart phones barely a few inches from their noses.  And making urgent phone calls — or at least it seems that way.

The airport is bustling with people and carts and everything, and everyone, is moving with purpose. People trying to get somewhere. The food is marginal, the bad wine is expensive, and the anticipation to get on board and get home tests everyone’s patience.

I spend more time in airports than I care to, but duty calls and there is much work to be done. Can’t wait to get home and let my head hit my pillow, in my bed, in my comfort zone.
