When Demons Come Calling

The demons that take over the mind, become ours for good. They are impartial to age and gender and intellectual ability. We call them my many names, and they wear many a disguise.

These demons play games with the mind, and make the body an empty, hollow home, where only they reign supreme. Once poised ladies are reduced to shambles, proud men to mere images of their former selves.

These demons possess us in ways that make it difficult to fight back. I have seen people lose their sense of control; lose their dignity; forget the names of the people they love; forget the very things that define their very being.

The saving grace? Those afflicted by these demons, rarely recognize that they exist. For the rest of us, we suffer for them. And must watch those we love whither away.
