Jeopardy is the show that makes me realize how little I know about art, history, politics and opera, among a host of other subjects. Alex Trebek was the beloved host of Jeopardy, who had all the answers (framed as questions!).
Alex lived an enviable life with a sense of grace and charm that is rare in this “me first” world. He died last night after fighting his cancer valiantly, for the last 18 months.
It’s odd how we can feel so sad for the loss of someone we have never met. Maybe the fact that he had a seat in our living room every night for 30 minutes has something to do with it. For that half hour, he was front and center, informing, educating, teaching.
Mr. Trebek wanted to be remembered as a “reasonably nice guy who was helpful, kind and enjoyed a good laugh”. He will be remembered for all that and so much more! Rest well, good Sir. You will be missed.
