There was a time, when I was a lot younger, that I would envy those that had more, or those that had the life I wanted. Over the years, I have learned that my circumstances, and my lot in life, are perfect for me.
I no longer envy others for their success, or for their many accomplishments. Envy turns to admiration for thought leaders — not for those that accumulate wealth. And that can only be a good thing.
I have found solace in my family, my few friends and my students who allow me to practice my craft. I have learned to practice gratitude on a daily basis — not just at this time of year. However, my deep sense of gratitude is front and center during this season, as it crystallizes into a focal point.
Maybe I am just getting old, but I have learned that happiness lies within. Have a Happy Thanksgiving, by genuinely giving thanks.
