Wolf

They say a boy becomes a man when his father dies. As we sat in Church, the glow of the candles lightly brushing the casket, we mourned the passing of Wolf. He died at 43 years young and left behind his grieving widow, Elizabeth, and their three children.

Wolf was a good man. Full of life, and always the life of the party. I don’t think I ever saw him frown, or be reflective. He was jovial, but not flippant. A devoted family man, his world was his children. His selfless giving continued even after his death, as he gave life to others by donating his organs. Such was the man.  Such was his spirit.

Why is it that the good die young? The mood was sombre as Wolf was laid to rest with full Military Honors including a 21 gun salute.  The heartbreak of death never ever heals. It’s losses such as these that define families and relationships, and test the very core of our being.

Today, a young man grew up, and a widow grieved her loss. I sense their journey of life without Wolf has just begun. He will be deeply missed. Sleep well
my friend. Sleep well.
