Universities have this wrong. We require students to show up in person for face-to-face classes, and allow Faculty to teach remotely on account of health-related “accommodations”. Does it make sense that students must come to our campuses from around the world, only to be “Zoomed” for the whole semester from the comfort of their cramped dorm rooms?!
Yes, the health and wellbeing of our faculty is critical, yet some exploit every loophole to work the system. Why is it that many that are health compromised to teach, are not health compromised to eat out, or vacation, or travel?
Higher education, right now, is a farce. Parents paying top dollar for marginal return on their investment. Scott Galloway, a Marketing Professor at NYU is right — our education system is broken. Unless we fix it quickly, and well, the paradigm of higher education will shift forever.
