I have been blessed to spend large amounts of time in Zurich over the past 18 years. I love the city, as it is good for my soul. The quaint ambiance, the picture perfect scenery, the fresh air, and the energy of the city warms my heart and engulfs my spirit.
I like the Swiss people — unintrusive and polite — and cherish how Zurich allows me to follow a path of deep introspection. My pace of life here is slower and the phone does not ring. The Swiss are relatively unemotional. Maybe that explains centuries of neutrality in political ideology.
I marvel at the Swiss commitment to the environment. They protect their geographic landscape with fierce passion and there is a civic sense among its citizens that is enviable.
I enjoy the street cafes, and my favorite past-time is to sit near the Bahnhoff-strasse and people watch. And YES, I must pay homage to its chocolates!
I secretly wish I could bottle the spirit of this city and take a piece of paradise back home with me…
Never had a chance to visit Zurich, but your expressions about the city really motivates me to visit this biggest city of Switzerland !! I have always been enthralled by the natural beauty in general and Switzerland, surely tops the list for me. Verdant landscape, rolling hillocks, snow-clad mountains, crisp air and the vibrant flowers — I have mostly read and seen them in pictures and movies, but one day, I am sure we will pack our bags and make Switzerland our next family vacation spot! Thanks for this blog Hemant.
