Zurich

It’s my favorite city in the world, primarily because it is good for my soul. I enjoy breathing in the fresh air, walking aimlessly around the lake, and exploring the coffee shops and local watering holes.

The phone rarely rings, I disconnect electronically from the rest of the world and focus on some quality “me” time.  There is almost nothing better than grabbing a corner table facing the streets at a local cafe, sipping on my wine, and watching people go by.

I know the city well. I taught in Zurich for over 18 years, and have explored almost every nook and cranny over the past 23 years that I have been a regular visitor. I know the non touristy places that define it’s beautiful culture, and give it a local feel. I know enough Swiss German to be dangerous.

At the end of the day, I have come to realize, that if there is a heaven on Earth, the natural beauty of the surrounding area must be a close second to the real thing. Mount Pilatus continues to be my favorite place in the world.

I will be heading there tomorrow and hope to soak in every aspect of life in this beautiful city. Some of us just get lucky that way. Time to recharge these batteries and bask in the sights and sounds of a place I truly love.
